The Markes Micro-Chamber/Thermal Extractor (μ-CTE ™) is a compact, stand-alone unit for the rapid, method-compliant sampling of chemical vapors released from a wide variety of products, foods and materials. With its simple operation and ability to simultaneously collect volatile and semi-volatile organic compounds (VOCs and SVOCs) from up to six samples, the Micro-Chamber Thermal Extractor is a powerful tool for increasing laboratory productivity.

It is also versatile – accommodating many types of solid and liquid sample, and allowing vapor collection using sorbent tubes, DNPH cartridges and on-line systems. The Micro-Chamber Thermal Extractor is widely used by industry and test laboratories for determining representative emission or odor profiles, identifying emission sources, and simulating aging or formulation processes.

Norm Compliance: ISO 12219-3 for screening VOC emissions from materials used in car interiors, ASTM D7706 for rapid screening of VOC emissions from products.

Instrument Features

Precision gas manifold maintains a constant flow of air or gas into each microchamber (independent of sorbent tube impedance), with no pump or mass flow controller required.
Heated micro-chambers allow emissions to be assessed at elevated temperatures, for rapidly generating representative emission profiles, or for simulating product emissions at higher temperatures.
Inert-coated stainless steel chambers ensure compatibility with reactive species.
Rapid sampling: Total test times (including equilibration and vapor sampling) are typically <60 minutes.
Qualitative and quantitative correlation has been shown between data from the Micro-Chamber Thermal Extractor and that from standard small chambers.
